I LOVE trying new places, and when I get to try different beers or wines, I love it even more!
Fieldwork Brewing Co. has a few locations in the Bay Area. Their hub is in Berkeley, but they also have taps in Napa, Sacramento, Monterey, San Mateo, and their newest location in San Ramon. I’ve wanted to try them out for a few months, but I knew I had to go to their newest location, since the entire mall it’s in is new! So new, in fact, all of the stores aren’t even rented yet.
The decor in the taproom is so on brand! It’s rustic, masculine, but also very down to earth. There are couches in the back, long picnic tables, and a pretty open bar with less than 10 stools. The outdoor seating would be ideal in warmer months, although they do have a few fire pits.
Let’s get into the actual beer, shall we? We shared a flight with 6 different beers.
- Rainbow Parfait
- Big Trouble in Little Citra
- Selfish Bliss
- Hors de Saison
It was a pretty light flight, with the exception of Rainbow Parfait- which was completely out of left field. And to be honest, I didn’t love any of these beers. I know I was tasked with finishing Chloe and Hors de Saison, while my counterpart finished Sasha and Big Trouble. We had to leave Rainbow Parfait there, it tasted like melted candy! Not exactly what I had in mind going for a drink before dinner.
All in all, I’d love to go back and try a few other beers- very different ones! I want to love Fieldwork, but it’s going to take another visit for me to tip the scales in their favor.
